Milking Area

Pasture utilisation should be calculated on the area of the farm that the cows are milked on, known as the Milking Area. You must keep this in mind when entering your farms data.
The milking area is the area in hectares that cows graze to produce milk. Do not include separate areas that replacement stock may graze or the area of run off blocks.
Area irrigated: hectares

Irrigation water used

To estimate the amount of pasture grown on the irrigated area, you need to provide the
amount of irrigation water that has been used for the season up to this date.
If you are unsure, try to estimate the amount used.

Hay Wet tonnes x 800=
Silage (bales) Wet tonnes x 450=
Silage (pit) Wet tonnes x 300=
Vegetable waste Wet tonnes x 100=
Brewers grain Wet tonnes x 240=
If you have fed a feed that is not listed here, record the type of feed, the amount you have
feed in wet tonnes and the % of dry matter in the feed.

Fodder conserved but not used

Only complete this section if you are calculating pasture utilisation for the full year.
This includes any feed that has been conserved on your farm over the year and hasn't been fed back to any of the
stock on the milking area during that time. This includes conserved feed that has been fed off the milking area.
